    Battery Health > Capacity

I've been using my Pixel 9 Pro XL for almost 14 months, and my battery capacity is at 95%. As a practical matter, however, I haven't noticed any significant change in my battery life from one charge to the next -- still more than satisfied with this device.

Pictures taken with the Pixel 9 Pro and XL

Since you love double rainbows, here's another one I captured back in April with my P9PXL off the southwest coast of Jeloya Island, sailing south into the Outer Oslofjord a mile northeast of Horten, Norway.

    Annual question

Based on the information I've read about the Pixel 10 models, I don't feel any incentive to part with my Pixel 9 Pro XL. As a practical matter, based on the way I use my phone, there appear to be no new features or functions offered by the Pixel 10 that would justify making the change, much...

No "Camouflage" function in new Photos Editor?

A brief follow-up: While I regard the loss of the "Camouflage" function as lamentable, I must say in fairness that so far the Magic Eraser feature is much improved. The residual blurs and remnants and uneven lines that were frequently visible -- and stubbornly irremediable -- when using the...

No "Camouflage" function in new Photos Editor?

Evidently, I'm not the only one who is dissatisfied with the new Google Photos Editor: https://www.androidauthority.com/new-google-photos-editor-changes-3582505/ https://www.droid-life.com/2025/07/29/people-seem-displeased-with-new-google-photos-editor/

No "Camouflage" function in new Photos Editor?

When I opened a photo on my Pixel 9 Pro XL to perform some minor edits today, I discovered that Google has updated the format of Photos Editor. It appears that among the changes is the absence of the "Camouflage" function that was associated with "Magic Eraser" in the previous version of Photos...

    I'm done with Pixels!

In a world populated by diverse individuals who have differing preferences, perspectives, and expectations, it's inevitable that no device will be a perfect fit for everyone. The fact that users have differing demands and priorities with respect to various features ultimately benefits us all...

I didn't fully appreciate the extraordinary quality and reliability of my Pixel 9 Pro XL until I had used it for several months and suddenly realized that it had functioned flawlessly from the moment I started using it. Enjoy your new device!

    Android 16

FWIW, the update downloaded and installed -- slowly but uneventfully -- on my P9PXL last evening, and my device now shows that I'm on Android 16. No betas were harmed or otherwise involved in the implementation of this update.

    Android 16

I haven't downloaded the update yet, but I don't understand why I would be receiving a Beta version. I've never been on a Beta version before.
