Mine has worked great after updating to KitKat - apparently it's the luck of the draw, although I suspect the majority, if not the vast majority, of users are not having problems. Most problems seem to be resolvable by clearing the system cache in recovery mode and/or doing a factory reset...

It should go away if you update to Android 4.4.2.

If it happens again, look at Settings - More - Battery and post the % of battery usage for the stuff in the list. It's difficult to tell what's happening without having an idea of what's using the charge.

The update supposedly fixes wifi connection problems; if that works it will be a big deal for the people who were having that issue under older Android versions.

That's a "feature" introduced in KitKat by Google. There's at least one file manager available from the Play Store that I believe can put files on the SD Card under KitKat; I think it's the ES File Explorer File Manager - make sure to get the latest version.

Maybe check your browser settings and see if you have a setting for automatic downloading of files checked. Mine always asks me if I want to download PDF files, so not sure why you're getting them automatically.

My phone also seems to be quicker after the update. I also noticed that Verizon's version of the KitKat update eliminates some of the things that have annoyed some people; now folders automatically close when you exit from an app opened from within a folder, and the blue date doesn't appear...

I get a notice when I connect asking for permission to access my contacts, but I haven't tried using them to call through the car's voice command system, so can't tell you for sure if it works.

The best I can tell you is that the S4 (Verizon model) works fine with a 2013 Honda Accord using Bluetooth, although all I use it for is streaming music from the phone and answering phone calls, so I can't tell you if other features also work.

Take a look at Settings - More - Battery and post the %s for the things using your battery. It should be "screen" followed by other stuff; if something is using more than screen, that may be the culprit for excess battery use.

Try turning wifi off.
