Performed suggested update this morning. Now SD card is damaged.

You're welcome - hopefully that will work for you. Let us know if the problem remains!

Help! Did my son brick his nexus 7?

Did you happen to try the instructions/procedure that is posted as a sticky in the Root/ROM/Hack sub-forum? http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-7-2012-rooting-roms-hacks/191477-guide-nexus-7-factory-image-restore.html That seems to have saved a number of people with devices that are...

Is everyone receiving the upgrade to 4.4.2?

The risk isn't with force closing Google services framework, the risk is with clearing the cache for the Google services framework. It essentially creates a new device ID for your device so Google Play and many other apps will likely see your device as a new one rather than the existing one that...

Apps that don't work on the Nexus 7

As a matter of fact that worked wonders. Since it is just Starbucks, I just logged in on the Nexus 7 and it was good to go. However, the app apparently only allows one device to be logged into it at one time so it logs out my phone and vice versa. Oh well, it works!

    antivirus apps antivirus apps

Well, there is probably some truth to that for the big companies (Norton/Symantec, McAfee, Kapersky, etc) but in general that's a very naive way of thinking - especially when the apps we've recommended are the free ones (they don't benefit from false positives). It sounds something like what I...

Performed suggested update this morning. Now SD card is damaged.

I would recommend at least trying to open it up on your computer and if you can read it there, back up everything on your computer and then format the SD card with FAT32 and / or let the phone format it. Then you can copy things back that you want / need from the backup on your computer. The...

    antivirus apps antivirus apps

I use Lookout on my S4 but also like Avast for mobile and use that on my Nexus 7. Lookout has some nice features like snapping a picture (and sending it to your email) anyone who attempts to unlock your phone 5 times unsuccessfully. Also has a remote wiping feature as well as it sends out a...

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 - Official Android 4.3 Update Discussion

No problem! And yes, if you log into your Google Play account on a computer (or just via web browser instead of the app) and you go over to the upper right you will see a drop down menu that has them listed. It isn't named very intuitively, I just can't remember what it is referred to as in that...

HELP. Galaxy S4 and driving mode

I believe it has been renamed to "hands-free mode". You can also go to Settings > My Device > Hands-free mode and turn it on, but also go into that menu item and change individual settings. I think the specific one you are looking for is half-way down - "Message". I'm not sure that it will read...

Apps that don't work on the Nexus 7

And still isn't working. It's a bit ridiculous as it isn't a Android 4 thing (it works fine on my Galaxy S4), it's an Asus Nexus 7 thing. C'mon Starbucks ...

    GS4 Sprint Spark Question

If you tap on either one of them in view mode, you would see that they are not set so therefore are not enabled. If you enable them in edit mode, you will notice your signal drops completely and then eventually comes back after it resets the two flags to "< not set >". There is a rumor/leak of a...

HELP. Galaxy S4 and driving mode

Pull the notification panel down with two fingers and it will show you all of the options - then you can edit it from the upper right (pencil icon) and rearrange your buttons to display whichever ones you use most often on the default notification panel. Is that what you are looking for?

How do I open ZIP files

Many of the File Manager apps can open and uncompress ZIP files. File Manager (Explorer) from Rhythm Software is one I have used, though I use the tablet version (File Manager HD). There are also apps like WinZip that are specifically for the purpose of opening ZIP files, but that's all they'll...

    Making Ringtones

The easiest way I have found to do it is to use a computer and a program like Audacity to grab a snippet of a song and then save as a separate mp3 or ogg file that you can then copy back to your phone and choose as a ringtone. If you're looking to do it all on your phone itself, though, I know I...

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 - Official Android 4.3 Update Discussion

Google Engineer Dan Morrill Sheds Some Light On The Nexus OTA Process, Urges You To Never Clear Google Service Framework Data I did this with the MK2 update to 4.3 and while I did successfully force the update on my GS4, my devices in Google Play show two GS4's, one last used on the day I...
