I did a little more digging around and found that the Google Play store was doing some kind of background somethingorother. I told that app to do that only over wifi. Lot to learn! Thanks.

Thanks for the help. I found the clock plus thing. I'm just surprised there's not a way to put that on the sleep screen. It's one of those things that was really handy.
