If you only install apps from the play store, then make sure you read through what permissions the app is asking for and I believe you'll be fine. I remember reading about one flashlight app in the play store that was collecting data regarding your location, and selling it.

The playlists that youtube makes automatically after you search for something are pretty good at finding similar things. That, and my friends listen to some pretty trippy stuff.
