For me I can use Google pay without unlocking for $50 or less. If it's more then I need to unlock the phone with face unlock. If I use the cards/passes feature with the power button, I need to unlock the phone with my face to change my credit card payment.

No I haven't had that problem. I've been able to do it with glasses on or off, also with my sunglasses. Also, when I setup face unlock I had a thick beard, but after shaving, it was still fine. I'm pretty happy with it.

I agree with this. If the pixel 4 leaks are true, the new phones may come out with 6gb RAM and who knows what other hardware improvements.
