    Really low budget

I'm a music teacher, and considering requiring my private students to have a smart phone for the coming fall term. They don't need to have cell service, or even use wifi; I just want them to have something to use for taking notes, recording audio (doesn't need to be high quality), snapping...

How to connect an XLR mic to Galaxy Note 10.1?

I have been doing a little bit of related research, trying to decide on a mic, and wondering if I should bite the bullet and buy an ipoh just for recording. I came across this site (see below). I don't see any reason to need a zoom, why not just use a regular audio interface? If I find...

Use the galaxy note 10 for teaching

Answering myself, in case anyone wants to know in the future. I ised Chromecast to mirror my Note 3 and it worked like a charm. Will try the 10.1 in a week or two. I am loving that I can have a powerpoint open, but if I need extra space for student questions, I can keep one note or the s...

Use the galaxy note 10 for teaching

I'd like to do this for a math class as well, but am hoping I can use the Chromecast intsead of the all share cast hub. Has anyone had experience with that, now that it is supposed to be able to mirror the screen? tia, suzi.

mirror note 10.1 to note 3 over wireless?

Did you get the Samsung all share, or a different maracas dongle? I'm happy to hear it works!

mirror note 10.1 to note 3 over wireless?

I know this sounds crazy, but I do have a reason. I teach large college classes, where I stand behind a podium and write on a smart computer monitor with an s-pen, which is displayed over a projector. I am trying to figure out how to use my Note 10.1, so I can walk around the classroom while I...

Best Options for Wireless Service During European Travel

Here is an update, in case anyone is searching the threads with the same question. Google voice works brilliantly when you have GrooveIP installed. Just make sure you are in airplane mode, with wifi on, and you are good to go. I did not get the TEP mifi. I am just using free wireless where I can...

Best Options for Wireless Service During European Travel

Not a connection to make calls, I don't think. I have an old Sprint phone (I'm on Tmo now) that I use on wifi to make gvoice calls all of the time with GroovIP.

Best Options for Wireless Service During European Travel

I am also going to Europe this summer, and visiting multiple countries. I'm wondering if using something like this would be more cost effective -- Travel Abroad without Data Roaming | International Mobile WiFi Internet Connectivity| Tep Wireless Basically, you rent a mifi from them, which they...

LTE live today in Phoenix and outskirts

I live in Tempe, and have seen it there. And I work on the other side of town (near I-17 and Camelback), and have 2 bars there, but no problems with connecting.

Galaxy Note 2: First thing I don't like.. The alarm clock

The default alarm lets you yell at it to snooze or quit. To enable that ability, go into s-voice settings and turn on "control apps." As someone who is definitely not a morning person, I find this to be quite cathartic. :)

Spen apps from Developers now and in the future

For Evernote, I've been using Skitch, which uses the s-pen. Also, I am starting to use the handwriting mode in the stock keyboard more and more.

Galaxy Note 2 replace a camera, camcorder, tablet, PC, cell phone, mp3 player in one swoop?

I'm not much of a photographer, so I can't speak to that, but I am finding that I don't use my tablet any more -- the Note is taking over all of the functions of the tablet for me. The Note comes with Polaris, and of course, there is Google Drive/Docs. I have always used Docs to Go, since the...

    S Voice

I teach college math here in Phoenix. This semester I am teaching a geometry for future elementary teachers course, and right now we are working on arc length and circle area. I worked a problem in class on the Note 2 with S voice -- be sure to read all the way down to the bottom, even if you...

How is it getting used to the size from a GS3

I switched from an Evo 3D, and it took about 45 minutes, tops, to get used to the phone. I remember when I got the Evo, thinking "Man, this is a BIG phone." But before that I had a Centro, so go figure. :)
