Not a connection to make calls, I don't think. I have an old Sprint phone (I'm on Tmo now) that I use on wifi to make gvoice calls all of the time with GroovIP.

I live in Tempe, and have seen it there. And I work on the other side of town (near I-17 and Camelback), and have 2 bars there, but no problems with connecting.

The default alarm lets you yell at it to snooze or quit. To enable that ability, go into s-voice settings and turn on "control apps." As someone who is definitely not a morning person, I find this to be quite cathartic. :)
