Thanks all for responding in this thread. I've trained it and it's better but sadly not a solution to the problem. The light sensor still ignores low light and acts as if it is complete darkness.

Oh, and forgot to mention, proximity test and light sensor test are passed. Light sensor works fine... when it can detect light that is.
