I have the s4 as well and my phone is updated to the newest version (5.0.1) I just uninstalled the app, reinstalled it, after logging back in I went to clear the cache (Settings>More>Application Manager>Snapchat>Clear Cache) and the filters are now working. Rewind, Fast forward, Slow-MO, etc...
