Yes, I would say Tab 3 8" will be perfect for your use case. Unless you are particular of the S-Pen and S-Note app, I would suggest both are more than enough. I had opportunity to play a very intense game Temple Run BRAVE in both Tab 3 8" and Tab 3 Note. I could not see the difference at all...

confirmed it works with latest 3.2.2 firmware. put over 10 GB songs. this is great.
