I do a combination of things and can get 6 hours with normal to heavy usage on cm9, depending on what I'm doing. Using Tasker to toggle off data and wifi when i turn the display off, setting the cpu at a max of 800MHz ondemand using antutu, keeping brightness as low as i can handle, almost black...
