Some message apps will combine the messages on the receiving end but you have no control of the character limit when sending.

Are you saying there are no days of the week showing to pick? I don't think it is a Samsung problem since on my At&t even with their latest updates it has continued to work as intended. For now just use an app there are so many good small alarm apps.

That shows when some apps such as weather are set to automatically update. If location/GPS is turned off you will get that message. I have often had location and GPS turned off with no notification as long as no app that relies on location is asking for information.
