Is there any reason to downloading the assistant app from the play store? Is there extra stuff it does that assistant that comes on the pixel 2 doesn't already do?

I was about to say the same thing. When i had my note 5 i finally just bought a plug for the charging port and just used wireless charging. But that's not possible for obvious reasons with the pixel 2.

Is the cable from the box supposed to be able to plug all the way into the phone? I mean the phone should touch the plastic and you see no metal.
