If you use an App like Tomtom you can function completely on GPS. However it's not as quick nor as accurate as it could be without cellular (A-GPS). Overall it's very good on GPS alone since it has the ability to use GPS and GLONASS.

Try running your phone down. Turn off the phone and use a 2.1A charger. You ain't seen fast charging till you tried the above.

If it's Windows 7 It automatically downloads the correct driver for MTP (90% of the time). Windows XP you might need to download the drivers from google. But with MTP it limits the types of files you can transfer and you can't see the file system of the phone.

I use my playbook charger which does about 2.1A to quick charge my phone all the time. I don't know what the max rate the phone can charge at. It can pull more than 1.7A
