I had Google Voice set up for my voicemail on my Inspire and then on my Galaxy Nexus, but when I try to set it up on my GS3, I get an error. Is there a specific AT&T step somewhere in here that I am missing? I tried switching in the phone settings, but it's not taking.

The easiest way to update is actually to use the CMUpdater as long as you have a custom recovery that is compatible with it. Go to Settings->About Phone->CyanogenMod Updates and you can directly download and flash the newest nightly that way.

Everything phone and data-wise I believe should work with the proper APN setup. Obviously the AT&T apps probably won't work, but other than that I have never had issues with other GSM carriers and using unlocked phones.
