I haven't had to do this at all. I don't regularly restart my phone, but I've done it at least 3 or 4 times since updating to 10. Nova still works as the default every time.

I wouldn't. I'd hold off until the Pixel 4 when (hopefully) Google gets their act together and adds more than 4gb of RAM. And on that note, if the Pixel 4 has more Ram (and a wide angle secondary rear lens), I'm getting it ASAP. :)

Which Google case did you have on it? Google makes a few different ones I believe.

I actually did take a picture accidentally since i was slamming my finger on the screen trying to get it to go back to the home screen. Not sure what troubleshooting I can try? I purposely close all of my apps when I go to the gym to only have Jefit and Spotify running so nothing can close...

Not for me. I was at the gym last week (post March update) had only two apps open, Jefit and Spotify, accidentally hit the camera app, which proceeded to freeze the phone as mentioned, and then the phone closed Spotify. :(
