Sure, but that doesn't really account for the new version refusing to log calls on the new phone

Yes I did. Everything came across fine. All aps incl the phone app (with contacts, favorites) but not the call history

Same result in Safe Mode. When trying to Restore it says 'No data backed up' under call history

Only the first outward call was logged. After that nothing ... neither inward nor outward calls are logged. Searched the web but none of the solutions offered like clearing the phone cache or deleting the phone data worked
