    I won't be able to return to the store until tomorrow. When I called customer service last night to check status, (my order is not showing in any interface I have access to as a customer) they created an escalation for me because, according to the CSR, it should have already shipped.

    I cannot speak for anyone else's experience, but, in my case, I was told by the associate at the AT&T Store where I made my pre-order on Aug 26th, and subsequently by a manager at that store that my pre-order would be shipped to me and that I would receive my pre-order by the 15th.     That's all well and good except when a vendor/company sets the expectation that your pre-order item will be arrive/be available to you by or on the official release day. That does not constitute an "entitled misunderstanding". You are correct in that nothing has gone wrong for anyone yet...

    Pre-ordered mine at the local AT&T Store on August 26th. As of last night, order still in "Pending" state. No shipping label. No company originated communication of any sort. I'm pretty sure that the store will have plenty of Note 8 inventory tomorrow, too. Worst AT&T experience in my 20 years...
