    Go to Settings on the Messaging app and there's a check box labeled "Use the volume key" You can then adjust the text size of your messages using the volume rocker.

    I just got my Note2 a few days ago, though it may be big.. the one-handed operation setting is helpful for drivers. Just remember to set it before you go out driving.
