Google cell phone repair?

when I shined a flashlight on it the only thing I saw was a crack down the very edge of the left side of the phone about half of the length of the phone :(. Would this crack have caused the black screen? Could the crack have broken something? Is it fixable? I've never cracked a screen before but...
