My 2013 Nexus 7. My Nexus 5 and Moto X have very similar setups. Same wallpaper, DashClock instead of Chronus. The screen with Chronus is my main home page. Calendar is on left, forecast on right.

After the OTA it's solid black in 3rd party launchers. Some people say that it's still transparent with the stock launcher but I wouldn't know. I've tried setting the transparency with GravityBox but no dice. One thing I did that helps make it more tolerable is shrink the height of the navbar...

It's definitely opaque now with 3rd party launchers. I use NOVA and since the OTA nothing I do can bring the transparency back, including setting it in GravityBox. When I adjust it in GB, I get some weird graphical anomalies. I haven't had any of the other issues you described though- no...

Gave up my S4 for a Moto X. The two phones aren't even in the same league. The X destroys it in every regard.

I like you guys, if this question was brought up on xda it would have turned into a flame war within 2 or 3 posts. I too think both phones are amazing devices. I agree that the hardware of the iPhone is pretty much unparalleled, but iOS has become a hindrance. I always owned an iPhone as well...
