I finally figured it out. You need to 'pull down' the top bar by swiping down with your finger. You'll see the wrench next to your google account info. Tap on it and it takes you to the updated info for your google account. Then it goes away. No other changes are needed. Not really worth...

Can you please tell me which app you used to quiet this blasted wrench icon that keeps my phone blinking? I can't seem to locate it. Thanks!!
