Check out N'4GET. I was playing around with it in August of last year (after someone else had recommended it). It's the closest thing Android has to ALARMED that I've seen. There may be more since but I haven't kept up to be honest.
Since that time, I ended up buying a Galaxy Note 2 so I really got a chance to explore the various Android alternatives. Anyways, to answer your question, the 2 Android apps that came closest to duplicating Yoctoville's ALARMED (which has been since split into ALARMED and YOCTO CLOCK) are 1)...
I try to make it a point to open it at least once a day but like mentioned above, it would be nice if it were somehow more prominent or quicker to access - like a widget, maybe?
Agree with MrHost: "App Lock" is a Godsend. You can lock photos, web browsers, settings, etc. but unfortunately, you can't really "hide" them per se; you can only prevent kids from getting into them.
RE: Twitter app, sorry, I just use the official Twitter one. It's plain but it works.
RE: podcast app, the closest thing Android has to Downcast are actually two different apps: Pocket Casts and DoggCatcher. I like DoggCatcher's UI better but Pocket Casts seems to have the more extensive...
Edit: misread OPs post. My bad.
Never tried to sync podcasts from iTunes on Android but there are great *standalone* apps where you can get the podcast eps straight onto your N4 - the aforementioned DoggCatcher and Pocket Casts (without iTunes).
One of the things that iOS does better than Android is the simple ability to e-mail videos that are longer than 10 seconds - as well as the ability to trim and e-mail different parts of the video. Those are basic tasks that my iPhone 5 does way better than my Note 2 and it just kills me. I've...
You have to give it at least a week. I use both the Note 2 and an iPhone 5 (I switch back and forth between the two) and they're both (IMO) equally great devices *but* they're very different. I know exactly what you're going through though - switching to an Android phone after using iOS for so...
You're right. I was just being half serious when replying. But all kidding aside, I do think the Note II is more of the"Android Flagship" device while the DNA is more of the "Verizon's Flagship" device.
In the end, just get whatever works for you, regardless of marketing labels.

For long road trips (especially through rural areas) I use TomTom (my most used nav app on iOS as well).
For anything else, Google Maps - which IMO, is still the best navigation app on any mobile platform.

Last year, I bought an iPhone 5 outright from a local VZW store. Over a month ago, I bought a Note II outright from another VZW store. Both times, the salespeople were nothing but helpful and accommodating. Mind you - I *don't* have an unlimited plan and am on a tiered 4G plan. So - and I'm...
