I had the same problem after 2 months: no external speaker sounds, but ok thru headphone and BT. Maybe a coincidence, but it seemed to fail after update following Marshmallow bump (?). Disabled BT, no go. Checked all sound settings, all ok. checked all "Do Not Disturb" settings, no improvement...
