Gave up on my N6 mostly because I was tired of missing out photos, so I feel you. In the end I'm so glad I changed now - initially, I wanted to wait for the Pixel 2 to come out.

Just tried it and I find their frame grabbing feature really neat. Still uses the date of the grabbing rather than of the video, but so far one of the best I have tried.

Not sure about the naming, but when my wife does it with her Z3, even for videos that are a couple of days old, then the pictures have the same time and date than the beginning of the video.

Thanks for the suggestions. So far I haven't found something satisfactory. One problem that keeps coming up is that all the screen captures are dated from the day of the capture, rather than of the video.

Just switched my wife's phone from an Xperia Z3 to a galaxy s8. One thing she dearly misses is the ability to capture stills from videos. This is built in Sony's video editor and seems pretty good. Can anyone recommend a good app that does that?
