Done, still not working right. Dang, this is frustrating. I certainly appreciate your help.

Yes I tried safe mode. And I'm using the factory Message app. I can send messages with no problem. I receive messages, I just don't receive any sort of notification that I have a message.

I am having the same problem recently (started two days ago out of nowhere). It's the messages (text) app that is having the problem, and I made absolutely no changes to the settings. I restarted, did the clear cache in recovery mode, and am still having the problem. Any other ideas?
