PROBLEM SOLVED!!! My Gear2 wouldn't connect with my Note3, even though it said I was paired. I disconnected my Gear 2 from bluetooth. It said it would do a factory reset. (No choice) In the process, I uninstalled all Samsung and Gear apps and reinstalled them before pairing the watch...

Re: Samsung Note 3 won't connect to new Gear 2 Neo I have the same problem. These steps did NOT work for me.

To see sidebar or remove it from view, try going to home page and hold down back button (bottom right). Tab should reappear/disappear from view.

Selecting the multi-window option from the drop down menu worked for me. (Drag down from top right and choose multi-window option.)
