    Maybe you could find the corresponding app in your list of apps (System Settings / Application Manager / All apps...), and get to it's info that way. Chances are though the checkbox will be grayed out even if you find the system app responsible for the icon. Unfortunately I cannot help...

    Does it have sd card slot on it? You could copy the rom on the card, and flash it from there. If there's no sd card, you can still attach a pen drive using a usb host cable. Hopefully your recovery will see files on there too.

    You can probably still do this with appbrain (appbrain.com). It needs its app to be installed, but then does a much better job at inventorying your apps. Even adds up the price of all your paid apps.
