I'm happy with the device itself. Not happy that I paid $600 for it two months ago and today you can pick it up for $400. It's the fastest depreciating item I've ever owned (not including cars, lol). But that's what I get for being an early adopter I guess.

AT&T seems to have better reception in the South Bay, but T-Mobile works much better in San Francisco and definitely beats AT&T in the customer service department.

Don't know about Sprint, but I have used 10+ gigs a month on T-Mobile with my N1 tethering and have had no issues.

So is it free or not? I have had a T-Mobile Nexus One for a year now, and have been using tethering/wifi hotspot for free (ran up to 10-15gigs on some months with NO overcharges and NO throttling). I am planning on getting a Nexus S, either T-Mobile or Sprint. If Sprint's Nexus S doesn't do this...

The Captivate has an ATT tab because it's a ATT branded phone. Since the Nexus S is "pure Google" and unlocked it should not have a T-Mobile tab, just like the Nexus One didn't have one. Still, doesn't stop me from wanting one, but I want to see the CES phones before spending $529.
