A quick follow up. Took it to a VZ store and they did a soft reset by depressing Volume Up and Power Button at the same time. I had only tried Volume Down/Power Button. Came back to life pretty quick and seems normal, so I'm not sure what to make of it - but it works fine for now.

Anyone else notice a problem where transitioning from an app back home, or sometimes unlocking the screen, causes all of the home screens to "restart"? By restart I mean blank out and restart the icon's and/or widgets that were supposed to be there? This happens enough to be a bit irritating...

Interesting and not fun. You can download a backup app like titanium or mybackup pro which backs up the whole shebang, setting, screens, data, apps, etc. I've had to use it before on a Thunderbolt couple years ago which worked, though the behavior with applications was a bit weird. Maybe works...

Anyone know how to download and install the update without AT&T's updater service on a stock phone? From reading this thread it looks like this can only be done on rooted phones.

this whole thing with the menu button now overlayed to the recent apps button is just an arguement to bring back the capacitive menu button that used to be at the bottom of all android devices. Always wondered why they did away with that as i found it useful.

Google Voice search shows up on my phone in Google Play My Apps as well as in Settings Applications, but i see no way to launch it. Anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it?
