I want to root mine so i can get rid of the bloatware, but im a bit worried about turning my phone into a paperweight. I dont really want ICS at the moment, i just want to be able to get rid of the crap that us cellular forces you to keep so i can get the full use of the phone.

It's extremely sad that us cellular stopped selling it and decided to start selling a ton of crappier, less powerful, feature lacking phones. I love my Hero S. It may be a sub par phone now, but it is still better than every other sub par phone, by far.

HTC themselves told me in an email that there are no updates at all to the Hero S in the foreseeable future.
