    Magisk root

    Did you cleared cache and dalvik cache? You need to Wipe Cache before and after flashing Magisk (if via TWRP). By the way, I am not using Magisk to root my S9. SuperSU is good for me. If you want to root via SuperSU Package, try out this guide...
