Why would you ever do it this way? Just plug your phone in to your computer using a usb cable, then access the sd card through "My Computer" and delete away. You don't have to take the card out of the phone, it will be recognized as a drive once you plug it in to your computer.

I use Easy Tether. Works flawlessly. It's a pay app, but it works great over a usb connection. I had to buy it in the Amazon App Store. I could never get FoxFi to work on Verizon on my old HTC Rezound. Haven't tried on the HTC One yet.
