I really liked star ocean too. Tatics ogre for psp is a good one too, it's more a strategic rpg like final fantasy tatics though.

I would recommend you to learn java first too, if you understand the concept of Object-Oriented programming, then it will probably be easier since you already knows C++, but you can also use Unity3D as Cenda pointed out. High five! Same here.
