Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

I've got to ask... of those 240 apps, how many do you actually use?

Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

So this was my last day to either return the Nexus 6P or keep it. I've decided to keep it. I'm still not 100% sold on Android, but the recent news that Windows Phone has dropped to below 2% market share made me realize that there simply was no other choice. As few of apps as I feel like I need...

Thanks for the suggestion. I installed Sync.me and it was able to sync Facebook images down to my contacts. I noticed that it even pulled profile pictures for contacts I have in my phone that are not friends on Facebook, which is nice. I also noticed that it didn't just put the profile pictures...

Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

I like your analogy, although it's more like the old girlfriend had died an untimely death rather than just a break-up. I guess I'm in mourning for a platform that I feel was superior but am still trying to move on. I do find it humorous that people claim to love Android because it is so open...

Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

Thanks for the tip. The path that you posted didn't actually take me to the correct place, but it pointed me in the correct direction. I ended up finding the setting under "Typing & Autocorrect" rather than under "Keys" in the SwiftKey settings.

Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

The reason I was using Bing and Cortana is that is what I use on my Windows 10 computers/tablets so I want all my searches and data to go into the same search engine and virtual assistant. Two days ago, I decided that to give Android a full chance I would go ahead and switch to using Google for...

Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

I tried just ignoring the built-in Gmail, calendar, and contacts apps and just using Outlook. However, other apps couldn't see its data. For example, the messaging app couldn't see the contacts in Outlook and Cortana couldn't see the Outlook calendars. I also tried a few other third party mail...

Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

Sorry, but I would have to disagree. The apps that I mentioned all work fine and are regularly updated. In fact, I would contend the Facebook app is actually better since the Android version inexplicably cannot sync contacts anymore. But I'm not trying to be a Windows Phone apologist. I know...

Yeah, I can imagine the conversation now of me trying to explain to my wife why I need two smartphones at $650 each.

I installed SwiftKey and have been using it for a few days. The "swiping" and word prediction/editing is indeed much better, thank you. However, I still don't see emojis in the suggestions. Is that something I need to enable? If so, where? Because I can't seem to find it.

Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

The thing is, there have been repeated studies that show that most people only use a few apps consistently, so I don't think it's just me that doesn't need a ton of apps. Yes, having access to the latest and greatest apps is a nice thing in theory, but a lot of times the latest and greatest apps...

Windows Phone user switched to Android... deciding whether to stay

So I'm a longtime Windows Phone user. The last time that I used an Android phone full time was the original Galaxy S (the Vibrant on T-Mobile). Since then, I've used a string of Windows Phone devices with the most recent being an unlocked Lumia 930 on T-Mobile. I was planning on getting a Lumia...

Huawei Selling the 6P Direct -- with Caveats

I've tried ordering the Nexus 6P directly from gethuawei.com, but I simply cannot get it to work. I go through the process of placing the order and then get an error saying the billing address I used is incorrect. I contacted my bank and verified the billing address is indeed correct. My bank...
