I have a clock widget via Zooper Widget Pro and one of the options that I decided to try was updating the weather and location even when phone is in "standby" or whatever. I didn't think it would really have a drastic impact, but my drain almost exactly like that. I couldn't believe it. Not...
Not sure if this is the case, but I noticed that when my battery was at 20% or under, my headphone volume was very very low...even if it was jacked up to 100%. Once I plugged in the charger, sound volume was back to normal. I'm not sure if that's new to KitKat or not...but I've never noticed...
I installed the stock ND8 ROM from scratch...erasing everything. My battery life worsened...and I've got even less applications loaded at this stage than I had on my MK3 ROM.
I used to end up at around 60% remaining after a day...give or take a couple. Now I'm down to 44% after a day...give...
Well, I had to load the stock tar and flash it through Odin. Unfortunately it didn't upgrade anything, just a complete clean wipe. It probably will do me good, but I lost all my stuff...which downloaded anyway from Google. Google did a pretty good job not loading too much of the older apps...
Well...I do want to keep root (or be able to have it). I have CWM (latest) recovery and like that for flashing certain things that come up from time to time. But as for the bootloader...well, I really don't care too much. If I lose CWM recovery, I'd like to at least be able to reload it after...
I'm trying to figure out the best way to go from no-knox bootloader 4.3 stock to ND8... Guess it Knox bootloader doesn't matter much to me as I run stock root anyway. Any hints?
Assuming your still stock on 4.1.2 and hoping to avoid the Knox nonsense, you'll have to wait until someone releases a non-knox stock release for 4.4...similar to what they did on XDA. No doubt, the standard stock 4.4 will likely have it as well.
Re: 4.4 KitKat for the GS3
LOL Juan...that was a great phone! The only issue I had with it was that I kept it in my pocket. I was working on computers all day, climbing under desks and whatnot...ended up calling 9-1-1 about seven times. :-\
My change was making a big difference at first, but it seems like after a few other app updates, it's not lasting as long now. I'll keep things off as everything was working normally for me...but yeah, I got excited about a potential of a quick solution.
Hey all!
One of the many app updates came down recently and I noticed a big battery drain...with Google Services being the big culprit. I think I found a couple things to switch off and have noticed a HUGE improvement.
1. Settings>More>Location Services. Uncheck Use Wireless Networks.
2...
Google Services has been draining my battery something awful in the last few days since some Google stuff was updated. I've rebooted and it got a bit better...but not quite as expected.
Yeah...as wonderful as the Samsung device support community is, I'll probably move away from Samsung. Too many stupid quirks for my liking. I'm really liking the look of the Xperia Z series. HTC will be gone by the time I'm ready to upgrade...or they won't have anything compelling to offer...
The ones on XDA are latest version SANS KNOX...unless otherwise noted in the ROM thread. Whether you do a dirty flash/multi-step or the all-in-1 (clean reset), it should allow you to continue using whatever ROM you want as there is no KNOX bootloader to prevent you from doing so.
My dirty...
Yeah...Android has been making use of Exchange's ActiveSync feature to connect to your mailbox. That's completely independent of Knox. As an exchange admin, there can be various policy settings pushed down to the client (ie, your device) such as requiring a password and so forth. It really...
