There are a lot of times that I'll use my phone when I'm not properly holding it, so having it on the back doesn't make that very viable.

Ah, gotcha. I've actually just given up and gone to a pattern unlock screen. It's solved the problem, but I hate having to deal with it haha.

Do you mean smart lock? I can't use those settings because I'm using swype, not a secure lock screen. The things you described don't quite sound like my issue. My problem is that half the time my phone goes straight to the home screen and skips the lock screen when pressing power or tapping home...

Is anyone else having inconsistencies with their lock screen? I have mine on swipe (no need for security) but it doesn't seem to play nice with the AOD. When I push the power button, it's supposed to go to the lock screen, but half the time it just unlocks and goes to the home screen. Likewise...

I don't like the S8+ due to how tall it is with the new aspect ratio. I'm sure the Note 8 will be about the same size, so I'm just not interested.

Re: Carriers Mine worked out of the box, but 7.0 changed that. It took a GSM Sim, several attempts and a fair amount of APN fiddling to get it working again. Since then it's back to working great, and it doesn't even show Roaming anymore since the update.

I was incredibly unhappy with the phone after the initial 7.0 update. It is now back to being super fast and smooth. This update was a damn life saver!

Re: Carriers It's worked on Verizon from the get go. It can act a bit weird, though. Also, the nougat update messed it all up, and I needed a GSM Sim and some messing with the APN settings to get it working again. I do believe you need the Verizon dim to already be activated before using this...

Mine has been a laggy, stuttering terrible experience since day 1. That one was replaced through the recall, and that changed nothing. I'd honestly not recommend it.

I just got a lightly used one for $200, and it does seem, to have aged very well. I just think it's sad that there's no newer alternative with this level of quality. The only thing I can think of is the Xperia Z4 tablet, but that is super spendy and doesn't have an Amoled screen.
