I am fairly certain that this is a software issue and that sending it back for service is never going to help (as made evident by the other posters). On my watch the issue shows up when getting notifications while not connected to my phone. It has never done this while BT connected.

Thanks iamdjdmoney, I was, in fact, not doing the recovery method correctly...I was choosing recovery and letting it boot from there, not pressing the power button after recovery was selected.

Mine is doing it again and it started right after I received a notification (while not connected via BT) This time the recovery action isn't working, nor is letting the battery die and since I can't get to the settings menu to do a factory reset, I am stuck in this mode... Is there any other...

My Gear S is one week old with no additional apps installed and it just started doing the looping thing, right out of the blue. The restart/recovery did the trick, thanks.
