Depends on when it hits. I originally got a Photon, but returned it because I didn't like the screen. I could have kept it for more than a week, but I really didn't want to risk accidentally dropping it or something. I was leaning towards this, but if it doesn't hit until mid to late September...

It looks like an extremely dark purple around the wrinkles and nearly black near the edges on my CRT (Sony FW900). I can hardly tell the wrinkles are purple. When I first opened it up I thought it was all black as well until my eyes adjusted a bit.

I ended up returning mine today. I could have lived with the screen door effect, but the color banding in gradients was just too much. It makes the display look extremely cheap.

Same here, actually. Very strange. EDIT: Rebooting the phone fixed it in my case though.

My biggest issue with the display isn't me being able to see the pixels, it's the banding on gradients. Isn't this supposed to be a 24-bit color depth display? It looks like it's 16-bit with dithering. That, and the flicker I see when scrolling light colored text or icons on dark backgrounds...

The screen doesn't bother me enough to return it yet. I notice it, but it's not as big of an issue for me as I thought it would be. I love the look and feel of the Photon. Build quality seems very solid. Still, I'm waiting for an announcement of the Samsung GS II. Mostly a release date and...

I'm assuming it is, just like Motorola's previous qHD displays on phones like the Droid X2, Droid 3, and Atrix. I see no reason for them to change it now. Their pentile displays have gotten enough bad press they have to be aware of how many people dislike them, so you would think it not having...

Get rid of the giant center button and go with the 4 stock Android buttons. There was an AT&T Galaxy S II design floating around that had exactly that, and it looked much better IMO.
