OK, I downloaded that gapps, unzipped it and installed google market and vendor, etc. Now my phone boots into a black screen - it killed my phone. It shows the LG, waits about 15secs, shows the android for about 15 secs then goes to a black screen forever.

No. So I found the gapps repository, which one am I supposed to install?

I have successfully rooted and installed MiRaGe 7.2 on my Optimus V and was able to install F-Droid, but I cannot figure out how to install Google Play apk. Can someone offer me some advice? Thanks.

I actually reinstalled it and it worked fine. The first try took a few hours and then said it was done in the recovery menu with the Android bot, but it would only boot into recovery. Thanks

OK, thanks, got things up to the point of rom install, but it has taken at least 30 minutes by now, if not 45. How long should it take?

Thanks for the replies. I also just saw Quattrimus ICS which runs Android 4.0 on the Optimus V. Does anyone know how speed and stability are affected by making that switch to 4.0 on this phone? Guess I'm not sure whether to upgrade to the newest Android I can.
