You can always un root by running the ED1 root rom, then upgrading to ED2 OTA. This removes root and sends it back to factory.

I don't know if that is the problem or not. I seriously think its the network, or the phones. When I got my phone it had ED1 on it and didn't work when I walked out of the store with it. I can't remember how long it was before it got the OTA update, but it was at least a couple days...
