Why do I get the message Insufficient memory on your device?

Insufficient memory on your device

Listen guys I have a real problem. I have a galaxy ace and I need to update a lot of my apps but there is no more available space on the internal memory. I've done everything I can to free up space but nothing is working. I only have one app which is on my sd card so I don't think that has anything to do with it. Please help!
