If you are rooted, you can use Titanium Backup to remove it.

After converting my Zio from Sprint to Cricket service, Sprint ID kept me locked out of my desktop. The only way to launch apps was to use the Send <make a call> key to launch voice command and say "open <application>". Here's how i managed to defeat the beast:

For me, the key was running Z4root aka Z4 Mod (z4root.1.3.0 apk). I couldn't find it directly on Android market, so I found the file online and emailed it to my Gmail account. Then on my Zio,

1. Launch voice command and said "open Gmail". Used gmail to download and install Z4root.
2. Used Z4 root to create a Permanent root. The phone re-booted.
3. Launch voice command and say "open Market". From Android Market, download and install Titanium Backup.
4. Use Titanium Backup to remove Sprint ID.

I know almost nothing about the Android OS, so I can't guarantee that this does no harm.
It worked like a charm for me, even after power-cycling the phone a couple of times.
