Welcome to Android Central! Open the Google Play Music app, and your recently purchased music should be visible in the Listen Now screen. You can also swipe in from the left and tap My Library.
Tap the 3 vertical dot button associated with the song or album, and then tap Download. This will download the song to your device for offline play only by Google Play Music--you can't use other music apps to play it, and you can't locate the file yourself and copy it anywhere. If you want to do that, you'd have to download the song from your Google Play Music library website on your computer browser, then copy that mp3 file to the phone's storage via USB.
