Even after a factory reset my velvet goes up to 110-120 degrees fahrenheit. Is there a metal case? I only see tpu cases, no metal ones. When off its not hot and while charging its not boiling. Only after using for 10 minutes even without games. And even inside. Maybe case is too thin.

I have this one right now.

It fits my tmobile velvet. Just the camera area in the back needed shaving a little to fit. But it works. But always heats up in my pocket because its rubber and clear in the back so works with my qi charger.

A metal one would be nice to dissipate the heat. But I see no metal ones.

I was looking at a few but not metal so not sure.

I'd think a metal case might actually contribute to heating problems, as well as making it uncomfortable to hold. You typically won't find many metal cases anyway, since they can interfere with cell signal as well as wireless charging.

Does it still heat up in Safe Mode? https://www.hardreset.info/devices/lg/lg-velvet-5g/safe-mode/

How's the cell signal? Poor signal is a common cause for heating up.

Have not tried safe mode. Signal is fine. It usually cold. Only after using for 10 minutes it get warm. Not when idle or charging. If I let it sit for 15-30 minutes it goes back to normal.

What apps are you using when this heating occurs? Some apps that aren't game apps may be resource intensive.

I don't have any experience with the LG Velvet, but in general that sounds excessively hot... you might have a battery or hardware issue. How's the battery life? And does it seem to be working normally overall? It's rare but phones (or anything with a battery) can be a fire risk.

About 2 to 4 hours on tome and standby much longer. After a factory reset battery seems normal. It was draining fast before. But I also has 475 apps installed. Trying a lot of apps to see what works. I erased factory reset all and will only install half of that at the most probably now.

Sorry my father just passed away on Early monday Morning April 18th. So I am dealing with a lot. Funeral already happened but still so much else to do.

I will look into this later. I still would like a new case. The current case is getting old now. I will see. If no metal exist I will just see what's available.

Our condolences about your father's passing.:'(

When you have more time to think about this issue, I would say that a TPU case should dissipate heat better than metal. If your current case has a clear back, that might be part of the issue -- I once had a Ringke clear back case for a previous phone (I think my Nexus 5), and that one heated up significantly. I think the clear plastic doesn't dissipate heat as well as TPU.

Well as per the pics in my link it is clear in the back. Because that makes it work with the qi wireless charging. And it has builtin screen protector as well.

Somebody on androidforums.com suggested this case.

Also I was looking at these cases.

This has room for credit cards also.

or

or I like this.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098W7YTN...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU7065167

It does not have to be qi compatible for now. I can just pull the case off and on as need be.

or

or

or

Or this spartan has builtin screen protector also but is not clear in the back and supports qi.

Whoops, sorry -- I forgot that you had posted a link to your current case. I think that clear back may be the problem. Any of those other cases you linked should be better, as long as they don't have the clear back.

I am so so sorry for the loss of your father. I lost my mom a couple weeks before Christmas and mourning still comes in waves but the worst is after all the busyness is over. Time will bring comfort and cherished memories will bring smiles.

I haven't looked at the cases you're considering but there are now a lot of cases that are compatible with wireless charging without having to remove the case.

When you start adding more apps, add one at a time. That way if it's an app that causing the problem, you have a better chance of knowing which app it is and can get rid of it.

Or if I just put a piece of black tape in the back of the current phone case to block the clear part will that help? The other poetic one is good but not for the mobile version so I will have to shave the camera in the back like I did with the current one. I hate to do so on a new case. I like this one too but not available anymore. It has a strap in the back.
