LG VS880(G Vista) - Bluetooth turns itself off while searching for a device

I've purchased 2 different Bluetooth receivers. I am attempting to use them to play music from my LG VS880 (also known as the LG G Vista) through a non-Bluetooth stereo system by plugging the Bluetooth receiver into the AUX input. However, each time I try to pair with one of the receivers by searching for them in the Android Bluetooth menu, the Bluetooth turns itself off and back on and says no devices found.

The phone has been rooted but pairs easily with various car and boat stereos and Bluetooth speaker systems. Has anyone else run into this issue?
