Media not found - Samsung Galaxy Core Prime (MetroPCS)

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I couldn't find one for the Galaxy Core Prime and decided to go to the one closest to it from what I can see.

My wife took a ton of pictures earlier today with her phone along with some video. The problem is that a lot of the photos and video have "Media not found" when she tries to open it. We have tried it in Gallery, Photos and hooked up to a PC and trying to open it from there without success.

Do you have any suggestions on how to recover these files? My wife will be heartbroken if she can't get them back. Photos/videos taken before and AFTER are showing up fine but about 1/3rd of them overall are not working.

Are the photo saving to Internal Storage or a microSD card? If the latter, I'd suspect a corrupt or counterfeit card. Try a different card.
