Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere - I have looked for an answer but get contradictory suggestions.

I live in Qatar and have just bought a new Samsung Galaxy A7. It seems that the importer has rooted the phone before sending it on to the retailer for sale. I am suspicious of the motivation for doing this and I can't do OS updates so I want to put it back to its factory state. I suspect a Factory Reset will do this but have seen on forums here that some people say not to Factory Reset a rooted phone as it won't get rid of the root.

This is a Christmas present so it is not clogged up yet and I have already backed up all the current data to my PC using Kies.

Will a Factory Reset put this new phone back to the condition it was meant to be before it was shipped to Qatar? If not, please tell me how to get it thus.

Many thanks. :p
