Why can't my phone connect to any 5Ghz Wifi when my wife can (same phones)?

Hi everyone. Hope I posted this in the right place.

So my wife and I got ourselves a matching set of Samsung Galaxy A8 phones (SM-A530W) earlier this year. We have a dual band router from our internet provider (for almost 2 years now). I can connect to any 2.4Ghz wifi connection (other homes, church, etc). But I can't for the life of me connect to any 5Ghz wifi. I see the 5Ghz networks but nothing happens when I tap on it. What's peculiar is that my wife can and we have the same phone. It hasn't really been a big deal for me until this week ... my router is having issues broadcasting the 2.4Ghz band... lucky me lol (another issue for another site I guess). Can anyone help me?

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this from the Galaxy Nexus forum to the More Samsung Phones forum (sorry, we don't have one specifically for the A8).

Go to the Settings>Wi-fi menu and tap Menu, and look for advanced settings. If you see an option to select the wi-fi frequency, make sure it's not set to 2.4 GHz only.
