Why can't I update my Moto E 4g lte to Marshmallow?

Cannot update my moto e 4g lte to marshmallow

I got an alert on my moto e 4g (UK retail) earlier this morning saying that the marshmallow update was available. On trying to install, I got a message saying I needed to clear some space in memory first. I have now cleared out enough space, but going back into Settings..About..System Updates I am getting the message 'Your device's software is up to date'. I have tried restarting but no joy. Any ideas?

Normally you can't update more often than once every 24 hours. (It's to prevent overloading the update system, with everyone downloading the update a few times a day.) Try again tomorrow.

I agree with Rukbat. Usually Motorola release their updates on batches. Just wait until your phone is included in the next one. It won't take more than a couple of days.

thanks for the advice - am still not able to upgrade but hopefully it will be included in the next batch of releases. A little frustrating nevertheless ..
